State lawmakers are considering a long-delayed public works bill in this fifth special session. The $1.3 billion dollar bill would help pay for a variety of projects across the state.

“In total, I understand over $5 billion in requests were received. clearly, we all know there’s a great need for resources to maintain existing capital infrastructure and continue investment in our communities across the state.”

Minnesota Management and Budget Director Jim Showalter. Among the ways the money would be spent: $75 million would go to the University of Minnesota, $90 million to Minnesota State colleges and universities, $50 million to public safety and $324 million for miscellaneous transportation projects.
