MANKATO, Minn. – The Salvation Army in Mankato is announcing that it will launch a new rewards program for frequent shoppers at its Family Store on Mankato’s east side. The new program is slated to begin Thursday, October 1st

The program will utilize a punch card, with which shoppers will get a punch for each qualifying purchase (of at least $5). Once they have received 10 punches, they’ll have earned a reward worth $5 off a Family Store purchase.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for many retailers, including us,” said Lt. Andy Wheeler, who oversees both the operation of the Family Store and The Salvation Army service center on Riverfront Drive. “The Family Store team really wanted to create a program that would encourage shoppers to come to the store with more frequency, especially since the Christmas shopping season is not far off.”

“Our family store is already well known for its excellent values,” Wheeler said. “The rewards card program will make it an even better value to shop with us. And we hope people remember that their purchases help support the many programs The Salvation Army provides to our Mankato neighbors in need.”

“We are very excited to unveil this loyalty program!” says Cheri Larson, the Family Store Manager.  “We have wonderful guests and this a simple way to thank them for their faithfulness.”

In addition, the store staff would like to remind people that the Family Store will also accept their gently used clothing and home décor donations. Not only will these donations help fund Salvation Army programs, but it means these items will find a second home, and not end up in a Mankato landfill.

Shoppers can pick up a Rewards Card at The Salvation Army Family Store, located at 201 Star Street in Mankato.
