North Mankato city officials say they’re playing a property tax rate reduction in 2021. City manager John Harrenstein says the city may have to tighten its belt due to the state’s government situation.
“If that Local Government Assistance situation gets more uncertain, that will force us to take a closer look at the budget,” said Harrenstein. “That could affect our capital improvements and our ability to keep our staffing levels where they are.”
Harrenstein says it’s about finding a happy medium to still provide the necessary services at the same time do so in as economically feasible of a way as possible.
