The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is warning Minnesotans about robocalls using fake political fundraising requests to trick victims into “donating” to a favorite candidate.
“And they need your financial donation immediately to support their campaign, and if you offer to give, you will be transferred to a live person and asked for credit card information.”
The BBB’s Bao Vang says the scammer will then use the credit card info–and potentially steal your identity. Vang says if you get a call from a number you don’t recognize–don’t answer. And she says you can request to be put on the “do not call” list by registering online at donotcall.gov.
