“It’s been a long-time coming, 50 years in the making.”

That was U.S. Representative Jim Hagedorn’s reaction to the US Department of Transportation awarding a 25 million dollar BUILD grant to complete the Highway 14 corridor from Nicollet to New Ulm.

“It’s going to be a really good thing for the economy as well as safety,” said Hagedorn. “We’ve had too many fatailties on that stretch over the years. Today is a great day for Southern Minnesota.”

MnDOT estimates that construction on the new stretch of Highway 14 will begin in 2022. Ground was broken last fall to expand Highway 14 to four lanes from Dodge Center to Owatonna.
