MnDOT is looking for volunteers for the state’s Adopt a Highway program. MnDOT spokeswoman Anne Meyer says volunteers are asked to commit to the program for at least two years and pick up litter on both sides of the roadway a minimum of twice a year.

“Just give us a call, get to know the program a little bit and we can get you signed up with a section that’s close to your area.”

The average length of an adopted roadway is two miles. Currently, there are about 630 highway segments available for adoption–most in Greater Minnesota. For more information, visit MnDOT’s website.
