Heading into the home stretch to the fall election, analysts are keeping an eye on the race for U-S House in the 1st Congressional District in southern Minnesota, where incumbent Republican Jim Hagedorn faces a re-match with Democratic challenger Dan Feehan.   Hamline University Professor David Schultz says:

“There’s been some controversy surrounding Hagedorn, his chief of staff, the use of what’s called franking privileges, or mailing to constituents.”

But Schultz does not see as much focus this time on the 8th Congressional District in northeastern Minnesota, which in prior elections was a “battle royale” between Democrats and Republicans:

“I actually see at this point the 8th District probably having flipped over to Republicans at this point.”

G-O-P incumbent Pete Stauber is being challenged by Democrat Quinn Nystrom, an activist who pushed for Minnesota’s insulin assistance program.
