MnDOT is celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the state’s Adopt a Highway program.

“Currently we have about 3,800 volunteer groups that pick up trash along Minnesota highways across the state, 475 of those groups have been with us all 30 years.”

MnDOT spokeswoman Anne Meyer says last year volunteers spent about 272,000 hours cleaning roadway ditches picking up 40,000 bags of trash across Minnesota. She encourages anyone interested to volunteer for this year at MnDOT’s website.
