A Republican National Convention that, like Democrats’ last week, is pared-back by COVID opens today (Mon) in Charlotte, North Carolina. Minnesota G-O-P Chair Jennifer Carnahan says:
“It’s a significantly smaller group so, instead of the full delegations from each state, there’s just a handful of people from each state that are here to go over the official business, and then we all fly home Monday afternoon, Monday evening.”
Among tonight’s official business is Republicans officially nominating Donald Trump as their candidate for president. First Lady Melania Trump speaks tomorrow (Tues), Vice President Mike Pence on Wednesday… and Thursday President Trump will officially accept the nomination — but from the White House rather than in Charlotte.
