High praise from Minnesota delegates at the Nicollet Island Pavilion in Minneapolis, watching Joe Biden’s acceptance speech at the Democratic National Convention.   Biden said the current president has cloaked America in darkness for much too long but he — Biden — will draw on the best of America instead of the worst:

“For love is more powerful than hate, hope is more powerful than fear, and light is more powerful than dark. This is our moment. This is our mission.”

Delegate J.P. Barone says Biden’s speech touched his heart and soul:

“But more importantly it touched the heart and soul of a very sick nation that I believe he can heal. I hope other people… saw what I saw.”

Joe Biden saying that a united America will overcome “this season of darkness” from the current president:

“Are you ready? I believe we are. This is a great nation. We’re a good and decent people. For Lord’s sake, this is the United States of America.”

Biden asked, will we be the generation that finally wipes out the stain of racism?

“This campaign isn’t just about winning votes.   It’s about winning the heart and, yes, the soul of America. Winning it for the generous among us, not the selfish…. Winning it for those communities who have known the injustice of a knee on the neck.”

Biden says he’ll never forget when six-year-old Gianna Floyd told him “Daddy changed the world.”

Biden said history has delivered America to one of its most difficult moments with a “perfect storm” of COVID, the economy, the need for racial justice, and climate change:

“So the question for us is simple: Are we ready? I believe we are. We must be.”
