The Republican leader of the state Senate is blasting Governor Tim Walz for another court challenge to Enbridge’s controversial Line 3 pipeline — and analysts predict the GOP-controlled Senate could oust Walz’s commerce commissioner, Steve Kelley, in retaliation. Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka says the Line 3 court appeal is a “huge disappointment” for northern Minnesotans:

“About 65-hundred jobs, of which 42-hundred are construction jobs, are on delay. …Over five years of permitting, and we still are not doing this pipeline.”

The Sierra Club is applauding the Walz administration’s action, saying the Public Utilities Commission decision to let the project move forward ignored state agencies’ recommendations and would be devastating for Minnesota’s clean water and communities.”
