There are 567 newly reported cases of COVID-19 in Minnesota–and 17 more Minnesotans have died from COVID-19–that’s the highest single-day increase in deaths since mid-June. State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says hospitalizations have increased in the last two days.

“Currently, 321 people are in the hospital, 17 more than the prior day, and I think as we have commented in the past, not unexpectedly when we see case growth, we typically we expect to see that followed by increases in hospitalization and unfortunately deaths from COVID.”

Malcolm says 152 people are in intensive care. Overall, nearly 67,000 cases have been confirmed. So far, 1,738 people have died from coronavirus in Minnesota.
