A video featuring Minnesota DFL house candidate John Thompson leading a protest in Hugo over the weekend has recently gone viral. The video from Alpha News showed Thompson using profanity and beating an effigy of the wife of Minneapolis Police Union head Bob Krull in Krull’s neighborhood. State Senator Nick Frentz of North Mankato says Thompson’s action went too far.
“I know he apologized, but if you do so something bad, even if you apologize there’s still the memory of you doing something bad,” said Frentz. “Another thing I didn’t like, the incident happened at a person’s house and involved a person’s wife. That’s totally out of bounds no matter what side of the isle you’re on.”
Frentz says there’s more tension regarding policing and race relations in the Twin Cities area as compared to greater Minnesota but any lack of civility helps no one.
