A similar statewide “dial-back” does not appear imminent, even though Minneapolis bars had to stop counter service over the weekend by order of Mayor Jacob Frey because of COVID outbreaks at establishments in the City of Lakes. Nearly two dozen bars in Minnesota have been linked to the spread of COVID-19 and state Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm says:
“We know that there’s a lot of effort going on in the hospitality industry to make sure that not only proprietors are fully informed of what the requirements are,… but how very important it is that patrons understand that as well.”
Governor Tim Walz said last week he was not considering a “dial-back” for bars statewide. But Commissioner Malcolm said they’re keeping all options on the table as they see where the COVID pandemic goes over the next few weeks.
