With more numbers in from the month of June, the number of completed COVID-19 tests in the state surged.
There were 141-thousand more tests completed in June than in May. Despite that more than 70% increase in testing, the state identified eight-thousand FEWER cases of COVID-19 statewide in June than in May. The case positive rate for May ended up at just over 9 percent, while the increased testing in June produced a case positive rate of 2.9 percent. Meanwhile, 680 deaths were attributed to COVID-19 in the state in May. In June, just under 400 deaths were attributed to the virus, a decrease of over 41%.
