Some areas close to Mankato received close to 9 inches of rain over the past 24 hours.
Jacob Beitlich with the National Weather Service in Chanhassen says conditions were ripe for heavy rainfall.
“It was a slow-moving system so the thunderstorms developed.”
Even though there’s more rain predicted later this week, Beitlich says it shouldn’t be as much.
“We are looking at a little more rain but not as severe or heavy.”
He also shared this advice if you come to water on the road.
“If roads are underwater, turn around don’t drown.”
Nicollet and Judson seemed to be the hardest hit, coming in at close to 9 inches, with St. Peter and other parts of Nicollet County reporting close to 8.
