State Senator Rich Draheim of Madison Lake says the state of Minnesota’s total budget has doubled in the last decade. Draheim said he authored a bill to reign in state’s spending.
“My legislation would have required every agency to bring their budget down to nothing, rebuild what they need for funding and why,” said Draheim. “We’ve lost track of that as a state. All we do is add on programs on top of programs.”
The bill ultimately wasn’t passed. Draheim says many of the state’s programs are very worthy but his legislation would provide an opportunity to examine how tax dollars are getting spent to the best of the state’s ability.
