The Minnesota Legislature adjourned its special session Saturday without passing any major legislation. State Senator Julie Rosen of Vernon Center says her chamber passed a bi-partisan bill to distribute 841 million dollars in federal CARES act funding but things changed in the house.

“That bill got caught up in the POCI (Persons of Color and Indigenous) caucus’ police reform demands,” said Rosen. “They want felon voting rights. That’s not going to happen. They want the ability to dismantle police departments. That’s not going to happen either.”

Rosen says if lawmakers are called back for a special session the issues need to be kept separate rather than tying the agendas together for a session to be successful.
