The Minnesota state legislature is in the midst of a special legislative session. State Senator Rich Draheim of Madison Lake says legislative leadership has not been on the same page.
“We were told we’d come back when leadership agreed on what we were going to do,” said Draheim. “It’s turned into a free-for-all, which is disappointing.”
Draheim says there is only one reason lawmakers are back in St. Paul
“And that is the Governor’s state of emergency,” said Draheim. “If he wants to go another month he’ll have to call us back again. And it’s very expensive to have us up here.”
Draheim dismisses calls by Walz and legislative democrats that his chamber didn’t do their job. He says over eight hundred bills were run through the Senate during the regular legislative session.
