Can lawmakers reach compromise on a bonding bill during the special legislative session? State Senator Rich Draheim of Madison Lake says his chamber had a bonding bill deal during the regular legislative session.

“We thought we had the bonding deal done,” said Draheim. “The Governor’s office then called Democratic senators telling them not to vote for it. So it’s pretty ironic that the Governor tells the media we didn’t get our work done when his office told Senators to not vote for a bill that we had a pretty good deal on.”

Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka said Friday morning he’d be willing to accept a one-point-three-five billion-dollar bonding deal. During the regular session, Gazelka reportedly supported a one billion dollar bonding bill.
