State representative Jeff Brand of St. Peter is hoping a bonding bill comes out of the special legislative session. Brand says a bonding bill is necessary from an economic recovery standpoint.

“We’re in probably the most uncertain economic time in the state’s history,” said Brand. “Having job creation at a time like this is very important and a bonding bill creates jobs.”

Brand says local projects such as Minnesota riverbank stabilization, Casewell Park in North Mankato, and Armstrong Hall at MSU are among the projects that could benefit from bonding. Any bonding bill needs a 60 percent supermajority of both the house and senate to reach Governor Walz’s desk.
