As the prospect of a special legislative session looms with COVID-19 as a major theme, Minnesota senate majority leader Paul Gazelka says a path forward for schools needs to be a top priority.
“They need to be given guidance about opening up this fall. They’re asking me, what are we going to do, they need to know. but the answer is, open up the schools, let the kids get back to school as well.”
Gazelka feels the response to the virus has been mishandled and the Walz administration has been slow to adapt to the changing nature of the crisis. A special session could be called as soon as this week to discuss COVID-19, a bonding bill and social justice issues including police reform.
