With a large number of persons participating in protests and gatherings after the death of George Floyd is contact tracing for COVID-19 even possible? The question was asked of MDH Commissioner Jan Malcom.
“By the very nature of the event, people are not going to know who they were in contact with,” said Malcom. “It not only creates a scale problem but a practical problem of not being able to identify contacts in the same way.”
Malcom says anyone who participated in the protest needs to monitor their symptoms and if necessary, isolate themselves and get tested.
