The Minnesota National Guard has been actively involved in increasing the state’s COVID-19 testing capacity. With the Guard fully mobilized in connection to the unrest in the Twin Cities will it affect the state’s testing capacity?

“Much of the guard that is providing security for our cities have a different background,” said   Kris Ehresman with the Minnesota Department of Health. “So there isn’t much of an overlap. Infantry Guard members haven’t been conducting the testing. Guard members with specialized medical backgrounds have.”

Ehresman says they conducted over 21-thousand tests Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
