Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with murdering George Floyd, has been moved to the maximum security state prison at Oak Park Heights at the request of Hennepin County Sheriff Dave Hutchinson. Corrections Commissioner Paul Schell says it’s not uncommon in such cases.

Schnell says Chauvin is “safe and secure” at Oak Park Heights.   Chauvin is scheduled to appear in court June 8th.
