Governor Tim Walz is getting pushback after announcing that restaurants and bars may re-open June 1st with outdoor seating only. Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Steve Grove says the administration is working to assist businesses that don’t have that option…

“City’s obviously run their own zoning restrictions, so it is a municipal issue, but MnDOT is looking into areas the state runs in roads and freeways and byways and parking lots and things and they’ll be releasing some guidance and thoughts about how MnDOT can help get this right too.”

In the meantime, Grove is encouraging municipalities to be creative to help get bars and restaurants currently without outdoor seating open.
