Lawmakers left some unfinished business when the legislative session wrapped up. Child care advocates are disappointed that legislators failed to pass a bill allocating $65 million in federal funds to make child care more affordable and accessible for thousands of Minnesotans.

“Funds have been sitting in a bank account in the state of Minnesota for years waiting for this agreement to get passed and there’s never been a more important time to get these kinds of funds out to families that are really hurting.”

Debra Fitzpatrick with the Children’s Defense Fund-Minnesota says childcare workers can’t wait until next year–they need the money now.
