Minnesota Governor Tim Walz signed an executive order Friday.
“He has directed that all flags at state and federal buildings will be at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the 19th of every month for the rest of this year to honor the lives lost from COVID-19,” said Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcom.
Malcom says the action reminds everyone that those who have lost their lives from COVID-19 are more than just a number
“Going through these numbers every day, a person can become numb to the fact that every one of them represents a loved one, a family member, a neighbor,” said Malcom.
MDH says 683 people have died of coronavirus in the state.
