About 20 Minnesota National Guard medics are deployed to perform nasal-swab COVID tests as the state ramps up testing at long term care facilities. Health Department’s Kris Ehresmann says the overall plan is to test all staff and residents at facilities with one or more COVID cases:

“Once we’ve gone through the facilities that have had a case — we wanted to start there — then certainly, yes, we’ll be testing even more broadly.”

Minnesota long term care facilities have borne the brunt of COVID-19 deaths in the state.
