The group Generations for a Smoke-Free Generation is praising state lawmakers after passing a bill raising the statewide tobacco sale age to 21.

“I think this is really great news for the people of Minnesota especially our youth. There are really two goals to this, first, aligning with the federal tobacco 21 law and second really preventing youth addiction before it starts.”

Spokeswoman Laura Smith. The bill passed in both the state House and Senate with bipartisan support and is now headed to Governor Walz for a signature.
