A bill exempting freelance hairstyle and makeup artists from having to spend thousands of dollars and hours in training for a license has passed with bipartisan support in the state Senate (64-3). “This bill will make sure that our freelance hair and makeup artists have the ability to go back to work when the pandemic is over.”

Housley says these workers were doing their jobs until the board of cosmetology stepped in and “threatened their livelihoods.” The bill now heads to the Minnesota House.
