Minnesota Senate Republicans got support of four Democrats when they passed a bill (Mon p-m) to override the governor’s order and allow all businesses to re-open if they have COVID-19 “preparedness plans.” Mound Republican Dave Osmek.
“Our commerce rights are being impacted by one person’s decision — one person. That is undisputable.”
Shoreview Democrat Jason Isaacson responds:
“The reality is… the well-being of the people is first. A part of that well-being is their health. A second part about that obviously has to do with our economy.”
Isaacson points out over 80 percent of Minnesotans approve of how the governor is handling the COVID crisis. The bill to override Walz’s order has little chance in the Democrat-controlled Minnesota House.
