The executive director of the Owatonna chamber of commerce says small businesses need to be allowed to re-open soon.
“It makes no sense to us that small retail can’t be open,” said Brad Meier. “We think they can do social distance and all the other things just as well as any other business. The Governor is indicating that’s the next dial to be turned, but it needs to happen sooner than later because folks can’t hang on forever and they do need some revenue coming in.”
Meier says there’s a lot of doubt in the business community whether many places can hang on
“46 percent of respondents in our survey are unsure if they’re going to survive all this,” said Meier. “That number stood out to us that they need help to get this thing rolling.”
Meier says small businesses are the fabric of the community and the government needs to remove the uncertainty so they can move forward.
