The countdown to the state’s fishing opener is here. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, anglers are being asked to fish close to home. Commissioner Sarah Strommen:

“No overnight stays. Bringing all the needed supplies. And only going as far as you can travel and return on a single tank of gas.”

Strommen said these guidelines will help protect many rural communities that are home to older Minnesotans and American Indians, groups that have a higher incidence of underlying health conditions.
