The state of Minnesota saw its largest one-day increase in positive COVID-19 tests Tuesday. The Minnesota Department of Health says there were 617 positive tests to bring the state total to 7851. MDH Commissioner Jan Malcom says the hospitalizations and ICU patient total remain manageable.
“We are seeing a lot of cases because we’re testing more and finding more,” said Malcom. “But the great majority of those cases are not needing hospitalization, so the numbers of hospitalized and ICU patients are well within the numbers we’ve projected.”
MDH reported 27 more coronavirus deaths Tuesday for a total of 455. 368 of the 455 deaths occurred in long-term care facilities according to the state. MDH adds 59 percent of COVID-19 cases have now recovered.
