On April 28, 2020, agents of the Minnesota River Valley Drug Task Force received information from an investigator with the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Office regarding a fugitive from justice possibly located in Madelia at 224 1st Street SW #5.  Task Force Agents, the Nicollet County Sheriff’s Investigator, Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office, and Madelia Police Department set up surveillance at the residence.

At approximately 3:11PM, the suspect was identified and exited the residence quickly.  The suspect pulled away from the residence in a vehicle before any contact could be made.

Officers attempted to stop the vehicle and brief high speed pursuit occurred on residential streets resulting in the suspect running into a garage, driving between two residences, and traveling through multiple alleys before traveling through several back yards where the vehicle became disabled and came to a stop.

The suspect then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.  The suspect was spotted by agents a block away at an uninvolved residence and was taken into custody.

The arrested party is identified as Patrick Vincent Pitts Jr. (DOB: 04/20/1997).  Pitts Jr. was wanted for multiple felony warrants out of Nicollet and Blue Earth County including, but not limited to, aggravated robbery, burglary, theft, felon in possession of a firearm, and escape from custody after recently being released on electronic monitoring due to the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequently removing his monitoring device.

Pitts was taken into custody on prior charges, and new charges will be requested with the Watonwan County Attorney’s Office.  There is no further danger to the public.  All agencies listed were further assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol.
