More than 1-point-3 million dollars in state grant funding is headed to nine programs around the state with the goal of expanding training for high-quality jobs. Deputy Commissioner for Economic Development Kevin McKinnon says the programs often center on training for leadership positions.

“People are responsible for more things at a little different level than they were in previous positions. Investing in your people and investing in their capabilities has proven to be a very successful strategy.”

The programs that will receive the funding are all partnerships between higher education institutions and local businesses.
