An executive order signed by Governor Walz last month required health care companies to delay elective care and surgeries until the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. US representative Jim Hagedorn says that needs to change.
“I’ve been concerned about this for a while and I talked with Governor Walz about this (Wednesday), ” said Walz. “There are a lot of people in Minnesota who aren’t receiving care or surgeries. We have to get people back in our hospitals. Unfortunately, we’re going to lose more people due to lack of elective care than from COVID-19.”
The Mayo Clinic has furloughed 30-thousand employees nationwide and cut the salaries of doctors and administrators in response to fewer patients coming into their facilities.
