The Minnesota Senate on a nearly unanimous vote has passed a bill requiring drugmakers to inform the state of price increases more than 10 percent over one year, or more than 16 percent over two years — plus provide information on production cost and profits for those drugs.   Roseville Democrat John Marty says it’s good drug companies have to report it…

…”but they’re still allowed to rip us off. It doesn’t change anything there. It simply says you cannot rip us off anymore without telling us you’re doing so.”

Marty proposed investigations and penalties.   But the bill’s author, Vernon Center Republican Julie Rosen, warned that could undo an agreement between stakeholders.   Rosen added however:

“Please, Senator Marty, I would ask you kindly to bring all the stakeholders forward, and see if we can move this bill in another fashion.”
