As of Thursday, the Minnesota Department of Health reported 1912 positive COVID-19 cases out of 41,675 individuals tested. Kris Ehresman with the Minnesota Department of Health was asked why only 4.6 percent of tests are coming back positive.

“We know COVID is circulating in our communities,” said Ehresman. “But there are also many other illnesses that cause similar symptoms.”

Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcom says there are positives in those numbers

“The Minnesota community has taken this seriously,” said Malcom. “Everyone is doing their part. We really feel that we’ve managed this very well to this point.”

Malcom says they’ve focused on testing individuals in congregate care facilities and up to a third of those individuals are testing positive.
