The state’s top health administrator says we are making progress in limiting outbreaks in long term care facilities. Health Commissioner Jan Malcom says they have emphasized an infection control approach in the 108 facilities statewide with a confirmed COVID-19 case.

“Fully half of them have only one case, as of today, which really does suggest that infection control is limit the spread of those infections.”

Malcom says they still have work to do to keep workers and residents safe, but this approach is showing results.

“We are seeing some early indications that this infection control emphasis is having a positive impact. We still have a lot to do, a long way to go to make sure we’re supporting these workers and these residents.”
