Secretary of State Steve Simon has a message for Minnesotans concerned about in-person voting amid the COVID-19 pandemic:

“I would apply to get all of the ballots for upcoming elections by mail and you can do that simply by going to our website which is and you can apply for the August primary or the November general election to have the ballot mailed to you.”

Simon is calling for the expansion of statewide mail ballots and absentee voting–particularly in the wake of Wisconsin’s in-person primary voting Tuesday, which resulted in many voters going to their polling places and experiencing long waits due to social distancing.
