It’s official. Minnesota residents won’t have to file their state income taxes until summer.

“Minnesotans now have until Wednesday, July 15th to file and pay their taxes without any interest or penalty,” said Governor Tim Walz.

Walz says the decision will create some challenges.

“I made this decision because it’s the right thing for Minnesotans,” said Walz. “But I also ask Minnesotans to understand this has ramifications on some of the resources we will not have going forward and we will need to correct those.”

Last week, the federal government extended the deadline to file federal income taxes until July 15th.
