The first death from COVID 19 is confirmed in Minnesota. The Department of Health says the person who died is from Ramsey County and was in their 80s.
They say the person was in contact with an earlier confirmed case of COVID-19.
Minnesota Department of Health Commissioner Jan Malcom says this death underscores what we as Minnesotans need to do.
The U.S. is now reporting more than 19,000 cases of COVID 19. 260 deaths have been reported.
Minnesota now has 137 laboratory-confirmed cases. 12 have been hospitalized in Minnesota with 4 in intensive care.
Malcolm says the virus is spreading throughout the state.
