A 30-million-dollar injection for the state’s Disaster Assistance Fund awaits a vote in the Minnesota House after the Senate approved it late last week. Elbow Lake Senator Torrey Westrom:

“Hope we don’t need to use it. Hope the flooding this spring is not a serious issue, but we know from history that it does happen… and we want to be ready, be prepared.”

Meanwhile the House last week approved 50 million dollars for the Rural Finance Authority, the state agency that makes loans to farmers. That legislation awaits action by the Minnesota Senate.
