The DFL-controlled Minnesota House last night (Thurs) passed a bill to expand background checks on gun sales, over objections of Republicans plus five Greater Minnesota Democrats who also voted “no”. Greenfield Republican Jerry Hertaus warned colleagues:
“Gun transfers in this bill *is* the camel’s nose under the tent, because it’s really a back door to gun registration system. That’s the truth of it all.”
But Saint Peter Democrat Jeff Brand says:
“I’m a proud gun owner myself, and I don’t feel that this actually infringes upon my gun rights.”
The bill has little chance of passing the Republican-controlled Minnesota Senate.
