Kevin Paap, owner and operator of a 124 year old family farm in Vernon Center Township
announced his candidacy for Blue Earth County Commissioner in District 4. District 4 includes 13
townships on the west side of Blue Earth County, the west edge of Mankato and the communities of
Amboy, Butternut, Cambria, Garden City, Good Thunder, Judson, Lake Crystal, Rapidan and Vernon
Center.

“Blue Earth County is a great place to grow up in and raise a family,” said Paap. “I pledge to bring my
proven experience and leadership to the office of county commissioner, working to ensure strong,
viable, and sustainable communities, not only in District 4, but all of Blue Earth County. I want to express
a sincere thank you to Commissioner Will Purvis for his 14 years of service on the Blue Earth County
Board and 31 years in law enforcement.”

Kevin is an active leader of the Minnesota Farm Bureau, involved in many agricultural organizations,
served on various local, state, and national task forces and advisory committees, an emergency medical
services instructor at South Central College, served 28 years on the Vernon Center volunteer fire
department and is an active member of their local church.

“I am a passionate advocate for agriculture and rural communities and will use my proven relationships
with elected and appointed local, state, and federal officials to seek common sense solutions,”
continued Paap. “One thing we know in Minnesota and on the farm is that working together works. I will
bring this philosophy to the office of county commissioner.”

Paap’s campaign will focus on advocating for programs and policies that support agriculture and a
strong rural economy, provide needed investment in transportation and rural broadband infrastructure
projects, protect and enhance our environment, and support efforts to ensure there is a growing
qualified workforce in Blue Earth county with access to housing and child care.
