No stars, not even clouds” Concert
Sunday,March 22, 2020 at 2:00pm
Chapel at Our Lady of Good Counsel—170 Good Counsel Drive, Mankato
Mankato, MN – The Music on the Hill series (MOTH) will conclude its tenth season with a program entitled No stars, not even clouds. The title takes its name from the middle piece on the program, a string quartet by Gillian Whitehead, written after Whitehead learned the heartbreaking news of a dear friend’s cancer diagnosis. The program begins with the Haydn String Quartet in C Major, Op. 20 No. 2, described by musicologist William Drake as “one of the supreme achievements of the Classical period” with every movement offering something to admire. The concert concludes with the nostalgically beautiful Quartet No. 1 in G Minor, Op. 27, by Edvard Grieg. MOTH welcomes violinists Maureen Nelson and Kathryn Bennett, violist Hyobi Sim, and MOTH artistic director, cellist Richard Belcher.
Tickets are available in advance through MankatoSymphony.ticketleap.com or at the Symphony Box Office [523 S. 2nd Street, Mankato]. Individual tickets are $17 [premium], $12 [general], and $5 [student]. Tickets may also be purchased at the door on the day of the concert.
