Is your memory not as sharp as it used to be? Do you sometimes have trouble remembering simple things? VINE Faith in Action is offering a 12-week cognitive training program to teach participants techniques to sharpen their brain.
VINE’s Mind Sharpener classes begin February 24 and students will meet on Mondays and Thursdays from 3-4 pm at the VINE Adult Community Center to exercise different areas of their brain. The activities focus on six different cognitive domains including reaction time, visual-spatial, attention and concentration, memory, language, and problem solving. Participants meet twice a week for twelve weeks with their peers and two trained facilitators.
The program was developed for people who feel as though their thinking and memory are not as sharp as they used to be. Participants will be given the option to take part in research conducted by Minnesota State University, Mankato Psychology Professor, Dr. Jeff Buchanan, on how well the program works.
The Mind Aerobics programs have been offered in other locations around the country and at VINE in 2019 with 29 individuals participating.
The cost for the program is $72, which includes 24 sessions. Scholarships are available for those interested. Space is limited and registration is required by February 18. For more information or to sign up, call (507) 387-1666 or visit vinevolunteers.com.
