It’s Minnesota’s Winter Walk to School Day today (WED).

MnDOT spokesman Dave Cowan has this advice:

“Drivers should always be looking for pedestrians on corners looking to cross, and students should give themselves a little bit of extra time to get across those streets to deal with ice and snow that might be in the road.”

Cowan says the goal of Winter Walk to School day is to promote physical activity, improve safety and cut down on traffic congestion near schools.
